Kazapalooza 2012 Recap

Kazapalooza 2012 is in the history books.  We had 110 families totaling 386 people converge on the Kalahari Resort and Waterpark in Sandusky Ohio.

During registration on Friday afternoon all of the Planners were so excited to see the kids and their families many of whom were returning Palooza attendees.  We must have commented 100 times about how gorgeous Kaz kids are.

On Friday night we started things off with a pig roast along with some old-fashioned picnic games.  While there was the usual chaotic energy it was clear that the kids (and adults too) had a great time competing in the tug of war, sack races and pie eating contests.  The smiles we saw all night said it all!

Later on Friday night we had our own Kristan Struck host a reading of her book “A Family for Eve”.  Many of the kids came dressed in pajamas but honestly none of them seemed settled for bed.  Probably still to hyped from the whipped cream pies they just ate the kids were more interested in jumping on the bed than going to bed. Eventually they settled a bit and Kristan read her story to the kids who excitedly informed her that they had the same book at home!

Our big fundraiser event on Saturday was once again a huge success.  This year we were working to raise funds for Papa Guido at Ark Village.  As usual our Kazapalooza families dug deep to support the orphans of Kazakhstan.  The total donation to Ark Village is expected to reach more than $7,000!

We had perfect weather all weekend and the rest of Saturday afternoon was spent playing in the massive Kalahari water parks.

And, on Saturday night a few parents had fun dancing the night away in hotel’s nightclub.

Sunday morning came as always, too soon. We said our goodbyes over coffee and donuts in our over crowed but filled with love hospitality suite.

Next year we will be in Texas. The details including the final city selection are still in the works but we know as always it will be a fun time with friends and family.

Hope to see you all there.
